Fish Pickle
Fish pickle is a tangy, spicy, and aromatic condiment crafted by cleaning with salt and turmeric. This delightful preparation is a popular delicacy in coastal regions of India, celebrated for its bold flavors and long shelf life.
The process begins with fresh fish, usually firm-fleshed Seelavathi, which are cleaned, cut into bite-sized pieces, and marinated with turmeric and salt. The fish is then deep-fried to a crisp golden texture, ensuring it retains its integrity in the pickle.
A rich spice blend forms the heart of the pickle, featuring ingredients such as mustard seeds, red chili powder, fenugreek, garlic, and ginger, sautéed in oil to enhance their flavors. Lemon Juice is added to provide the characteristic tanginess, while the fried fish pieces are coated in this aromatic mixture.
Fish pickle pairs beautifully with rice, or even as a quick snack. Its combination of tangy, spicy, and savory notes makes it a favorite among seafood enthusiasts, and the oil and vinegar act as natural preservatives, allowing it to be enjoyed over time.

The taste of the fish pickle is really good—flavorful and well-spiced. However, I was a bit disappointed with the quantity of fish pieces. In a 250-gram pack, I mostly received gravy with very few actual fish pieces. I would love to see a better balance between the gravy and fish content in the future. Otherwise, the taste is excellent!
